GLASGOW businesses are being offered the chance for expert economic insight at Glasgow Chamber of Commerce’s next Glasgow Talks event – Glasgow Talks….the Economy, which takes place next week (Tuesday 5 July).
Chief economist at Clydesdale Bank, Nick Parsons, and former Economics editor of The Herald, Alf Young, will discuss today’s pressing economic issues, each bringing with them a unique perspective informed by years of experience.
With over 25 years of experience in global money markets, Nick Parsons is currently National Australia Bank Group’s global head of Foreign Exchange and head of Research for the UK and Europe.
Alf Young writes, broadcasts and comments on a range of issues affecting Scotland and the wider world. He retired in 2009 from The Herald where he was responsible for comment and opinion.
Stuart Patrick, chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: “This is a great opportunity for members and non-members alike to get real insight into pressing economic issues from frontline economic thinkers.
“Glasgow continues to progress in these economically-challenging times. Working with top economists to find out how we can progress further is surely an attractive option for businesses in the city.”
Robert Gibson, managing partner of Clydesdale Bank’s Glasgow Financial Solutions Centre (FSC), said: “The Glasgow Talks series of seminars are a successful combination of being informative and entertaining while also prompting debate among those who attend.
“Welcoming two highly respected individuals like Nick Parsons and Alf Young to Glasgow is always a pleasure for Clydesdale Bank. Both speakers are experts on the issues facing the economy right now, although both have vastly different backgrounds which promises to make this Glasgow Talks event a highlight.”
The event, sponsored by the Clydesdale Bank, takes place on Tuesday July 5 at 1pm at the Clydesdale Bank lecture theatre, University of Glasgow.
Tickets are available at £30 + VAT for Glasgow Chamber of Commerce members and £60 + VAT for non-members.
