BAUER Media is set to host its first ever ‘Cash For Kids Day’ on Friday, May 27, 2011, creating an annual fundraising event to encourage people the length and breadth of Scotland to help disadvantaged children in their area.
‘Cash for Kids’ is the umbrella brand for Bauer Radio’s network of independently registered, local charities which operate across 20 local areas within the UK.
‘Cash For Kids’, the official charity of Bauer Media across Scotland, supports thousands of children across the regions that have special needs or life limiting illnesses, are suffering abuse or neglect, or simply need a little extra care or guidance in their lives.
Friday, May 27, will see businesses, community groups, schools and many other organisations come together in a bid to raise as much money as possible, all spurred on by Bauer’s local radio stations and DJs.
Every single penny raised stays within each station’s area will provides much needed support where it is needed most; so listeners can be sure that all money raised by them is changing the lives of children on their doorstep.
Ann Marie Miller, regional charity manager for Cash for Kids, Scotland, said: “Cash For Kids aims to help children and young people live better lives. We hope to grow this event as an annual fundraising day in the same way that ‘Children in Need’ and ‘Comic Relief’ have become very successful fundraising platforms.
“Cash for Kids is unique in that all monies raised and donated by listeners by each of our stations will be guaranteed to be spent within the local community and goes directly to help the children who need it most.
“We would love the people of Scotland to support this special fundraising day and register with their local Cash for Kids charity to take part.”
Last year, Bauer Media’s Cash for Kids raised in excess of £7.3 million.
Events taking place across the Bauer Radio network include:
Radio Forth
Radio Forth is teaming up with Teenage Cancer Trust for the launch of Cash for Kids Day 2011.

Teenage Cancer Trust will also provide a support network for friends and families in the East of Scotland, enabling them to meet other people in a similar situation.
The state of the art units are bright and vibrant and will often include pool tables, jukeboxes and computers, helping patients cope with gruelling treatment and often long stays in hospital. By focusing on quality of life, Teenage Cancer Trust units can change a teenager’s outlook and give them the fight and positive attitude they need to beat cancer.
