INSTALEC, one of Scotland’s largest IT providers, has announced an MBO by one of its directors, Graeme Taylor for an undisclosed seven-figure sum.
To support the new structure Steve Higgins joins the company as group chair.
The organisation will now be known as Instalec Technology Group Ltd, encompassing five specialist divisions – cabling, networks, systems, software and business consulting.
Graeme Taylor joined Instalec in 2003, becoming a director in 2004 and has a proven track record of implementing new technologies and corporate strategy.
Commenting on his acquisition, Graeme said: “This is an exciting time for the Instalec group.
“Going forward, I am committed to building on our brand and reputation.
“Our focus now is on expanding the business and growing our global client base.”
“We have a heavy presence in the oil and gas sector and have recently established a number of international contracts.
“This presents us with a robust platform for our future development.
“Our unique business consulting function has put us at the forefront of our industry and gives us a deep understanding of our clients business needs.”
“The organisation is in a strong place and we expect our turnover to treble to £15 million in the next five years, while doubling our staff numbers.”
Steve Higgins has a successful background in managing high growth businesses in the UK and internationally, having held senior positions with industry blue chips like ICL and Philips.

He had senior roles with two other major IT providers before heading back to Instalec in 2003.
Graeme developed the business through an MBO in Dec 2006 to £7million turnover effectively doubling the size of the company.
