LECTURERS and students from Stevenson College Edinburgh are currently on a trip to Ceuta, Spain, located on the north coast of North Africa to attend a project meeting as part of Sustainable Solutions (SUSSOL), a Comenius School Partnership Project, funded by the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme.
The Easter trip by science and childcare students and staff follows on from a project visit to Rome in February 2011.
In February 2011, six students and three lecturers from Stevenson travelled to IPSIA (L’Istituto Professionale per l’Industria e per l’Artigianato) Carlo Catteneo in Rome.
Staff and students from each institution exchanged information and gave presentations on their work on the project so far.
The ‘Sustainable Solutions’ project began in August 2010 and is a partnership between nine colleges and schools in seven EU countries, with the aim of devising models for embedding education and environmental sustainability into the existing curriculum.
The project will encourage students to investigate issues of sustainability to raise awareness of what sustainable development means and to look for sensible solutions.
