FIFE presents the largest student film festival in Scotland, which will give students an opportunity to show off their filmmaking expertise.
Begins a spokesperson: “Half Cut aims to legitimise student film giving professionals the chance to see up-and-coming talent.
“In recent years, Half Cut has seen gritty drama, musicals in miniature, ninjas on swings, claymation and full lobster costumes. 2011 promises as diverse and exciting a line-up.”

An awards evening will be held on Wednesday, 20 April at the New Picture House Cinema in St Andrews to which all are welcome to attend.
The People’s Choice Evening on Monday, 18 April gives students the opportunity to watch and vote for their two favourites from a selection of films not nominated for the awards evening.
The lucky winners will be added to the screening list for Wednesday’s event and will have a chance to compete for the top prizes.
The Industry Talk and Q&A session will be held on Tuesday evening, 19 April when students will have a chance to hear from two leading Pixar animators, Jaime Landes and Lindsay VanderGalien.
Robert Sproul-Cran, a BAFTA-winner and previous judge, who has been part of the film industry for over 30 years, will also be speaking.

Half Cut is another example of Fife’s major involvement and interest in filmmaking.
Earlier this month, a series of six films were recently screened across Fife as part of the Starting Block project.
Managed by Diversity Films filmmaking and training programme, the venture was launched in May last year, and supported by Celebrating Fife 2010.
Lawrie Brewster, of Fife-based creative production company, New Age Film, organised the very successful International Dysart Sail In Film Festival which took place in September last year as part of Celebrating Fife 2010.
He is currently producing White Out, an apocolyptic disaster movie filmed in Dysart, which is due to be screened this summer.
