LOCAL people will be able to lunch in style while raising money for a North-east cancer support charity.
CLAN Cancer Support is set to host its annual Lunch at the Marcliffe Hotel on Wednesday, April 20.
The charity received a welcome boost ahead of this year’s event when BP stepped in to sponsor the entire event, ensuring that every penny from ticket sales and donations at the event goes directly to CLAN.
The event will run from 11.15 to 14.30 with lunch served at 12.00 and attendees will have the opportunity to do a bit of shopping from stalls featuring goods from JJ Gifts, Regali Bags and Gifts as well as CLAN items.
Last year’s lunch raised £8,000 for CLAN, and fundraising manager, Susan Crighton, is confident that this year’s lunch will prove just as popular.
She said: “The CLAN lunch has become one of the most popular events in the CLAN calendar, and it is lovely to see so many familiar faces return, year on year.
“Last year we raised a fantastic sum for CLAN, and thanks to the tremendous support from BP, I am sure that we will once again be able to raise a huge amount.
“It costs around £100,000 per month to provide the vital support services based in CLAN House and our outreach centres, meaning crucial fundraising has to continue over and above the commitment to our new purpose built centre.
“BP’s sponsorship will allow us to make sure every donation given at the lunch will come directly to CLAN, which is obviously a huge boost for us.”
CLAN is an independent charity which offers support to anyone affected by cancer. Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland.
CLAN is also developing services in the community and now has a presence in Ballater, Inverurie, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Orkney and Shetland.
