HOME sellers in Dundee are being given the chance to put their properties on the market for free thanks to a new initiative from city law firm, Warners.
The firm is waiving all up-front costs for its clients in the Dundee and Tayside region, which will allow them to avoid paying up to £1,000 in up-front fees to put their home up for sale.
Under the ‘free to market’ scheme, customers will be able to delay all of the charges that they would face for listing their property and paying for a Home Report.
The initiative follows a the launch of an another innovative service in the city by Warners that allows football fans to name their preferred Dundee football team and have ten per cent of their legal fees donated to their club of choice.
Jason Scott, Dundee branch development partner with Warners, said: “Since the introduction of Home Reports the cost of placing your property on the market has been around £800 to £1,000. In any climate that is a substantial amount of money to find, but in the current economic climate it is especially difficult.
“In some cases, these costs are even dissuading people from putting their home up for sale in the first place, as they want to wait until the economy improves before taking the plunge.
“However, our new Warners Free to Market scheme means that we are able to offer clients deferred payment that will allow them to place their home on the market without any up-front costs. This way, they are able to list their home with us and not have to worry about finding the necessary funds traditionally associated with putting a property up for sale.
“We’re hoping that this scheme will prove popular with people in Dundee and the Tayside region and provide extra support for anyone who is thinking of selling their home in 2011.”
