STAFF at a Troon-based parcel delivery service – Parcels Please – are encouraging consumers to opt for courier services that travel by road, rather than air, ahead of scientific findings that suggest the earth is about to be battered by a wave of ‘solar storms’.
With the sun said to be approaching the peak of its solar cycle, scientists believe that blasts of energy-packed particles could play havoc with the internet, mobile phones, GPS and other satellite-reliant technologies.
