“If 35 per cent of under-35 year-olds are to be reliant on private landlords for a home by 2014, it is absolutely vital that the Scottish Parliament reforms the private, rented sector.
“This reinforces our call to address the chronic shortage of affordable homes to rent and the need to look again early in the new Scottish Parliament at the future role of private tenancies in Scotland.
“In particular, Shelter Scotland wants the Government to address key issues such as advice and information for tenants experiencing problems, ensuring the Tenancy Deposit Scheme gets up and running as soon as possible, reforming the tenancy regime to make it fit for the 21st century and a renewed focus on repair and energy efficiency.”
