GLASGOW-based digital specialists, Spider Online, have designed and developed arguably the latest eCommerce website for recession-driven bargain hunters.
Says a spokesperson: “www.glasgowsgreatdeal.com launches on Monday 7th February and is based on a style of buying called ‘Tuangou’ developed in China. The website brings the power of group buying to the individual, securing deals at anything up to 90 per cent off the standard retail price of hotels, restaurants, hair and beauty, retail and outdoor.
“Group coupons are the 21st century version of the 19th century phenomenon; however, market analysts predict massive growth in deal-based, location-based and social-network-based advertising.”
John Campbell, MD Spider Online, said: “The brief was to design a user friendly site that would stand out in a hugely competitive marketplace and appeal to a 70/30 female/male demographic. We have developed a content management system that allows stock of offers to be controlled, so when they are fully subscribed the offer is no longer available.”
The spokesperson added: “www.glasgowsgreatdeal.com has partnered with Scotland’s No 1 hit music station Capital FM and expects 30,000 users in the first three months post launch and 100,000 users eight months post launch.
“The website offers vouchers to recommend friends, one click to Buy Now, the ability to purchase the deal as a gift and no minimum number required to buy a deal. Advertisers will have their brand featured across all day parts on Capital FM, at no extra cost, which is expected to be the ‘deal maker’ in signing up new companies to www.glasgowsgreatdeal.com.”
Ron Morrison, of Today’s Great Deal, said: “Glasgow’s Great Deal is, in our opinion, the best community buying site on the planet! We aren’t a nameless faceless international company, we are closely involved with the local community in Glasgow and value the relationships we have with both small and large local businesses.
“Bringing an outstanding deal experience, from the best in the city at the best price in the city, we are committed to our vendors and our purchasers equally and the variety of deals we offer are second to none.”
Today’s Great Deal plans to expand the business to other cities across the UK and eventually the Middle East which will result in additional developmental work for Spider Online.
