ONE of the country’s fastest growing and increasingly influential business networking organisations has launched a new division in Ayr.
Fortunetwork, which is already thriving in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, has expanded with a new business breakfast group for decision makers, entrepreneurs and owners of SMEs based in Ayrshire.
“There have been many challenges for the business community over the last three years and collaboration is now recognised by many as a key to future success,” said serial entrepreneur, Rod Jamieson, founder and CEO of Fortunetwork.
“Despite the recession, our members have generated hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of business for fellow associates by opening up access to a wealth of UK and international contacts. As a result of working together, some of our people have won ongoing contracts or secured valuable deals in the Middle East, USA and across the UK.
“After successful growth in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, we believe Ayrshire is a logical next step for expansion and we look forward to working with the local business community.”
Says a spokesperson: “Fortunetwork was formed with the idea of encouraging collaboration between small and medium-sized businesses and to give them the chance of competing for bigger opportunities with access to a variety of associates and specialists.
“A few months ago, members of Fortunetwork met with First Minister, Alex Salmond. to present the Scottish Government with a number of proposals to help SMEs survive and thrive.
“Among the topics discussed were suggestions for easier access to tendering opportunities for smaller companies, a voucher scheme to encourage more start up businesses, funding for more apprenticeships, better broadband for all and the idea of a Scottish SME Code of Business.”
Added Rod Jamieson: “Our suggestions were greeted warmly and we have had several meetings with representatives of the government about how to develop some of these ideas to improve the help and support available for SMEs.
“Working with government and other official bodies is just part of what we do. At the nucleus of Fortunetwork’s activities is the principle of introducing new contacts, developing valuable business expertise and exploring visionary ideas via a collaborative approach.
“It’s not just about how to grow a business and generate more sales, it also about saving businesses in harsh trading conditions – helping them not only to survive but how to flourish too.
“In short, we are one big business family. We do not sell to each other but collaborate with each other.”
