LEADING construction company, Mansell, has completed two major projects – with a combined value of around £15.5million – for the University of Edinburgh.
The company, which has offices in both Glasgow and Edinburgh, recently concluded work on a £8million contract to build a state-of-the-art clinical imaging facility within the basement of the Queen’s Medical Research Institute for the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.
The Clinical Research and Imaging Centre (CRIC) – the first of its kind in the UK – includes MRI, CT & PET CT suites, as well as a cyclotron and laboratories for the production of marker chemistry for Positron Emission Tomography scanning – all of which will be used for clinical service and research studies.
The facility was officially unveiled by The Duke of Edinburgh at a special ceremony on Friday, October 29.
Mansell also recently completed a £7.5million renovation project to provide accommodation for the School of History, Classics and Archaeology over seven floors of the West Wing of the Grade A-listed former medical buildings, which are around 130 years old.
