Media Release: McGrigors to host Aberdeen bribery and corruption seminar

THE race is on for businesses to comply with the Bribery Act before it comes in to force next April.

Begins a spokesperson: “If companies don’t get it right they could be faced with an unlimited fine and up to ten years imprisonment for directors.

“To help companies in the North East get ready for the introduction of the Act, legal firm McGrigors is holding a seminar and workshop, ‘Bribery Act 2010, Compliance and HR Essentials’ at the Marcliffe at Pitfodels, Aberdeen, on Tuesday November 30.

“Members of McGrigors’ Business Crime and Commercial Fraud and Employment and Pensions teams in Aberdeen will give advice on what companies need to do to comply with the Act and the employment issues it raises.

“The seminar and workshop will deal with practical examples relevant to the oil and gas industry such as payments to overseas agents and the giving of hospitality to customers.

“McGrigors is the only law firm to offer specialist anti-corruption support in all UK jurisdictions and is the exclusive partner law firm in Scotland for leading anti-corruption organisation, TRACE International.”
