Media Release: Companies offered advice on doing business in China

COMPANIES across the Highlands and Islands interested in doing business in China are being invited along to events offering advice and support.

Scottish Development International (SDI), Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) have come together to offer businesses the chance to have a one-to-one session with the experts.

‘Doing Business in China’ clinics have been arranged for Tuesday October 19 at Cowan House, Inverness and Wednesday October 20 at Horizon Scotland in Forres.

Says a spokesperson: “The clinics will provide businesses with the opportunity to discuss their objectives on a one-to-one basis, whether they are thinking of taking their business into China for the first time, or if they are looking at further developing their business there.”

Wendy Liu, manager of CBBC’s Scotland office, together with colleagues from SDI and HIE, will be discussing matters ranging from market potential for products or services, how to establish a presence in the market as well as briefing companies on the types of support and services available to help them develop the China market in a cost-effective way.

The spokesperson adds: CBBC is the leading organisation helping UK companies grow and develop their business with China.

“CBBC supports British companies of all sizes by providing business services, practical in-market assistance and industry initiatives via a network of nine UK offices and presence in 11 Chinese cities.

“Each clinic session will last for 60 minutes and bookings will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.”

If your business would like to book a session at one of the clinics, contact Tracy Baird at CBBC, tracy.baird@cbbc.org or visit the Events pages on the HIE website www.hie.co.uk by Monday 11 October.
