A TALENTED group of Scotsmen will play for a hat-trick win next week, but not on the football pitch –on the musical stage!
Renowned bagpipers – Christopher Armstrong, Ali MacKenzie, Keith Bowes and David Wilton – are all members of the award winning ScottishPower Pipe Band.
On Tuesday August 10th, they will vie for first place for the third consecutive year at the International Quartet Competition at Piping Live! – a week-long celebration of Scottish music culture held in venues across Glasgow.
The competition will take place at the Glasgow City Concert Hall as part of the week of musical festivities which start on Monday August 9th, ending with the famous World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green on Saturday 14th.
Christopher Armstrong, the band’s pipe major, said: “I’m really excited about taking part in the quartet competition for the third year in a row. Having secured first place for the past two years I am confident that we can obtain this title again – despite some really tough competition
Heather McDonald, group sponsorship manager at ScottishPower, said: “We are delighted that the Band will participate again this year at the International Quartet Competition.
“Piping Live is a wonderful festival, which will see a number of extremely talented bands and individuals participate over the course of the week and we wish the ScottishPower Pipe Band every success in their efforts to take the title for a third year running.”
