IT’S summertime, the weather is fabulous, the schools are on holiday and a leading Green festival is almost upon us.
Opening night is less than a week away and this year’s event, is set to be the best ever – with King Creosote headlining the Black Isle Brewery Main Stage – whilst the Lomond Ceilidh Band will have everyone dancing over at the Wee Shindig ceilidh.
Big Tent has been extended to three days and will retain all of the innovation, creativity, enthusiasm and gusto that have seen the Big Tent grow and grow over the past five years.
A brilliant music line-up features Rosanne Cash, King Creosote, FOUND of Fife’s Fence Collective, Brazil! Brazil!, Session A9, Tunng, Das Contras, The Chair and a host of other great music acts from around the globe.
Big Tent is also recognised for its thought-provoking and inspiring Green messages and family fun.
There will be lots of children’s entertainment, alternative therapies, arts and crafts and great local and organic food and drink.
Travelling to Big Tent couldn’t be easier.
Stagecoach are running free buses from the nearby stations and various other drop-off points and kids can travel with parents for free on ScotRail trains.
For those coming by car, please follow the AA signs to the festival.
Do not go through the village of Falkland – it isn’t the way to the car park.
Have £5 ready (or £4.50 if you buy in advance) for your festival parking (that’s for the whole weekend).
The cycle park at Big Tent is located close to the festival site and there will be facilities available to secure your bike.
Also, SUSTRANS have created a bike route from Ladybank Falkland and Bikeworks will be running a bike clinic; so, if your bike has any moans, groans or squeaks, bring it along and get the bike docs to check it out.
If you can’t manage by public transport and are bringing your car, then think about sharing your journey.
SEStran has sponsored a special Big Tent Tripshare website which allows people to club together as travelling ‘buddies’.

Big Tent is open from 6pm – 11pm on Friday, 10.30am – 11pm on Saturday and 10.30am – 9pm on Sunday.

Big Tent is recognised as Scotland’s leading Green festival and winner of the Greener Festival Award 2009. Set on Falkland Estate in Fife, against the stunning backdrop of the Lomond Hills, 2010 is the event’s fifth anniversary.
