LOOKING for something to do this Sunday?
The Liberton and Gilmerton Neighbourhood Partnership invite you to their annual ‘Do in the Burn’ event at Burdiehouse Burn Valley Park.
The free event which takes place on Sunday 18 July will be celebrating all the great things to see and do at this special park.
Activities will include a cycling obstacle course, Nordic walks, bike health checks, Capoira demonstrations and a dog obstacle course as well as much, much more.
The family friendly event will also promote healthy living and focus on how to lead an active lifestyle.
Friends of Burdiehouse Burn Valley Park will also present their major project for consultation to the local community.
The group has been leading on an feasibility study on the creation of mountainbike trails in the park. Funding was secured from Scottish Natural Heritage on the construction of different grade of mountain biking trails.
And the scheme will also see mountain bikers of all ages with more interesting alternatives to use than the main paths and promote responsible cycling.
Stuart Gash, chair of the Friends of Burdiehouse Burn Valley Park, said: “The Do in the Burn event is the ideal venue for the group to consult local residents and youngsters on the creation of a mountainbike trail in the park.
“The event is sure to be a big hit with local families and all involved in the Friends Group are delighted with all the hard work and effort that have been put from the City of Edinburgh Council Countryside Ranger Service, the Liberton/Gilmerton Neighbourhood Partnership and all the other partners to make this exciting community event possible.”
The event runs from 11.00am to 3.00pm and the site can be accessed from Captain’s Road via Southhouse Terrace, Southhouse Crescent or from Lasswade Road.
