Media Release: Shetland businesses interested in doing business in Europe invited to free seminar

SHETLAND businesses with an interest in growing and doing business in Europe are invited to a free lunchtime seminar at Islesburgh Community Centre in Lerwick on Tuesday June 8.

Enterprise Europe Scotland, whose services are provided in the Highlands and Islands by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Highland Opportunity Ltd, are hosting the Routes to European Markets seminar in an effort to develop further potentially lucrative trading links with our European neighbours.

Jill Fryer, of Ledingham Chalmers LLP, will discuss the legalities of partnering in Europe, while the local Enterprise Europe Scotland representatives will provide an overview of all the tools at their disposal to assist companies in sourcing agents, distributors, collaborative partners and the business information required to find the best way into specific markets.

“European markets are potentially extremely lucrative for local businesses and they are right on our doorstep,” said Fiona Paton, senior development manager with Enterprise Europe Scotland.

“This seminar aims to help businesses in Shetland recognise what markets would be best for them, as well as covering some of the legal issues involved. We want our businesses to get the most out of trading in Europe and I would urge any who are currently considering breaking into new European markets to come along and see if we can help.”

The free seminar is being held at Islesburgh Community Centre, Lerwick on Tuesday June 8 from 12 pm to 2pm.

Enterprise Europe staff will also be available to meet with businesses on an individual basis.

Any local business interested should contact Enterprise Europe Scotland on: 01463 715400 or Email enterprise.europe@highland-opportunity.com
