THE Bauer Radio Network has yet again secured live broadcast rights for one of the UK’s most long-awaited tours.
Rihanna’s ‘Last Girl on Earth’ concert will be broadcast across a total of 20 stations with a combined audience of over five million listeners.
The three-hour event will also include an exclusive ‘Rihanna – IN:DEMAND’ interview and will feature phone-ins and post gig reaction from fans.
The Bauer Radio Network is building its reputation for bringing the very best live music to listeners, and this latest deal comes on the back of similar successful broadcasts with U2 and Lily Allen in 2009.
Bauer has market-leading stations in all major UK cities, as well as a national digital radio portfolio. The gig will be broadcast across the Big City Network of stations, plus national digital stations heat and The Hits.
Key 103, Rock FM, Radio City, Radio Aire, Hallam FM, Viking FM, Metro Radio, TFM, CFM, Cool FM, Clyde 1, Forth One, Borders, Westsound FM, West FM, Tay FM, Northsound 1 and MFR will all participate in the broadcast.
In addition to the event programming and exclusive interview with the singer, the stations will build up to the gig by creating a dedicated online splashpage for fans, and launching on- air ticket competitions plus a social media campaign.
Selected stations will offer tickets for the Glasgow concert on May 20th, with a lucky selection of winners enjoying a rare meet and greet with the star herself.
Ric Blaxill, head of Music for the Bauer Radio Network, said:
“We are thrilled to have secured this project and to be hosting this event across our major radio stations in the UK. This is the third live gig we have broadcast in the last year, and all have been met with a fantastic reception from our listeners.
“Web stats, for example, showed a huge increase in traffic to all the Bauer Radio Network stations involved in the U2 broadcast with listening figures being up over 250 per cent. We know this is the kind of thing our listeners expect, and we aim to raise the bar every time – it’s great that we’re becoming known for delivering the best quality music to our listeners, all of which helps to broaden our reach, and builds hours and engagement.”
