AN ecumenical group set up to provide support for the growing number of elderly churchgoers and their families is workshop focusing on the spiritual welfare of senior citizens.
Says a spokesperson: “The workshop organised by the Faith in Older People Project aims to increase the understanding of the importance of the spiritual journey in old age and how congregations and health and social care staff can be enabled to ensure that older people receive the spiritual care they need.
“Faith in Older People aims to celebrate the lives of older people, supporting the spiritual care of them and their families using a network provided by faith communities throughout Scotland.
“The conference is for ministers, elder trainers, pastoral carers and health and social care workers.”

The workshop is being held at Glasgow University, Dumfries, Rutherford-McCowan Building Crichton University Campus, May 27th, 2010. The event runs from 9.30am to 3.30pm with lunch, £35.
