HIGHLANDS and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is sponsoring an event in Glasgow which will bring together businesses and researchers who are developing the next generation of technological innovations.
Local technology businesses are being invited to take part in the showcase at the SECC on May 26. It offers opportunities for businesses developing innovative products and services to target new markets or those looking for technological solutions to see what is being developed.
The Scottish Technology Showcase 2010, which is being hosted by Scottish Enterprise, will cater for a wide range of industries and is focusing on four themes; digital economy, low carbon economy, health innovation and high value manufacturing.
Alex Paterson, HIE director of Regional Competitiveness, says the development agency is keen to see local businesses represented at the event.
“Our region has many businesses who are investing in innovative ways to develop products and grow their business. This includes everything from IT specialists creating revolutionary healthcare IT systems, builders developing forward thinking low carbon products and renewable energy developers shaping our future power provision.
“We had a fabulous response to the Highlands and Islands two day event, Innovate Scotland, in Aviemore last year. This showcase will also provide a world stage for the ever growing examples of innovative work from Highlands and Islands businesses, and we would like to hear from local potential exhibitors.
“One likely high spot for businesses this year is the Funding Zone, being introduced for the first time. It will offer expert advice on how to find and access innovation funding.”
The showcase will feature an exhibition hall, face to face meetings, workshop sessions and expert speakers. The one day event is expected to attract over 700 delegates. Admission for delegates is free. Further details are available at www.scottishtechnologyshowcase.com
