ONE of Britain’s leading economists is coming to Inverness to provide a pre-General Election insight into the economic challenges facing a new government.
He has argued consistently that economics is at the heart of understanding health and well-being.
Professor David Blanchflower CBE is guest speaker at the first of two high-profile business seminars hosted by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), in partnership with the University of Stirling, at the Centre for Health Science in Inverness.
Professor Blanchflower was until recently a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee.
He is Professor within the Stirling Management School, part of the University of Stirling, as well as being a regular columnist in The Guardian and New Statesman.
His lecture, ‘The Economic Challenges for a New Government’ is being held on Friday 5 February 2010 at 4.00 pm. This is a free event open to all of the Highlands and Islands business community.
Ruaraidh MacNeil, operations manager for HIE’s Inner Moray Firth team, said: “This lecture series aims to provide attendees with the most up to date views on the current economic situation and what this may mean for their business after the General Election this year.
