FIRMS in and around Ayrshire are being ‘tweeted’ to a second social networking workshop after organisers were overwhelmed by the response of the first event.
NSDesign and the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce joined forces to help companies take advantage of social networking.
The ‘Embrace the Space – Social Networking for Businesses’ event on 20th November sold out, with16 local firms signed up to take part.
Gary Ennis, managing director of NSDesign, an award-winning e-commerce company based in Hillington, said:
He said: “I am a long-time devotee of Twitter and other social networking sites for business purposes and in discussion with the Chamber of Commerce, we thought it would be a good idea to arrange a workshop for local firms to see how they could benefit.
“We suspected that there would be some interest but had no idea that we would get such a good response.
“From national telecoms and insurance giants to local farmers and pizza companies, a clever Twitter or Facebook campaign can help improve sales, boost your online profile, deliver first class customer service and a whole lot more.
“It’s not just the big companies with millions to spend on PR that are getting results from Twitter – local companies are benefiting too, using it to engage directly with their audience on a more personal level yet still measure results.
“The workshops aim to guide people through the different kinds of digital marketing that are available and explain the pros and cons of social networking sites and how they can be of benefit to businesses.”
Yvonne Munro, from the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce, said:
“We are absolutely delighted at the response we have had from the workshops. There was a fantastic atmosphere on the day and it was encouraging to see so many businesses engage with Gary and the team and embrace new methods of marketing. Feedback from those who took part was very positive we look forward to a repeat performance in January.”
Places are now available on the second workshop, which will be held on Thursday 28th January, 2010 from 10am until 12.30pm at the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce (Prestwick Airport) and will include a networking lunch.
Gary added: “With an estimated 18 million Twitter users by 2010, and a staggering 200 million current active Facebook users, businesses really cannot afford not to dip their toe into the social media pool. We urge businesses to sign up as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment.”
NSDesign has also confirmed a follow-on workshop with the Chamber of Commerce – Hello World – which will help firms embrace low-cost but effective internet marketing. The event will run on Thursday 11th February 2010 at Prestwick Airport, between 10am and 12.30pm, again with a networking lunch provided.
