EDINBURGH’S property maintenance experts, One Call Home Assist, have made an unique charity plea to the Forth One Cash 4 Kids appeal, following an on-air appeal.
The company made a pledge on the station’s Boogie in the Morning programme after hearing an appeal from morning show presenters Boogie and Dingo Dave for donations from Edinburgh’s business community.
Companies across Edinburgh and the Lothians were urged to make either a ‘gold’ or ‘platinum’ pledge on-air in order to help raise much needed funds for Forth One’s annual Cash 4 Kids appeal – a charity drive that helps support needy children across Scotland.
And One Call Home Assist was the only firm to make a ‘platinum’ pledge of £500 to the appeal during the show, earning them a special on-air fanfare, a bespoke radio advert and a celebrity endorsement from the show’s presenters.
National sales director, John Dickson, said: “The Cash 4 Kids appeal is a huge charity event and we were delighted to be able to help out. When we heard the appeal that Boogie and Dave made on air, we immediately decided that we had to make a donation to them.
“Part of the requirement of the platinum pledge was that we had to provide them with a short script about our firm which they would use in a special advert on air. We only had 15 minutes to come up with it, so there was a bit of a frantic dash in the office to make sure we got it finished and sent on time.
“When we heard the finished result, we were delighted. The Forth One presenters even made an impromptu jingle to go with our advert, which was a lot of fun, and made a big fanfare to announce the donation on air. They also mixed a special ‘celebrity’ endorsement for us, which featured some hastily-edited audio clips from Leona Lewis and Robbie Williams, so it was far more than we expected.
“Obviously, we were just happy to make a donation to the appeal because Cash 4 Kids does so much good work for children across the Lothians. Our only real surprise was that we were the only company in Edinburgh who actually made a platinum pledge to Forth One during the show – which shows there must be a lot of firms still reeling from the credit crunch and not willing to put down a lot of money for charity.”
