ABERDEEN environmental charity, Aberdeen Forward, is to officially launch a new website, which will be used to raise the profile of the charity and promote the difficulties of the impact of every day life on the environment.
The new site, which goes live on Monday (9th November 09), was funded by the Scottish Government’s Third Sector Enterprise Fund.
The site can be viewed at www.aberdeenforward.org and will promote the charity’s new Sustainable Communities Centre on Poynernook Road, which was opened earlier this year and provides business services and office space to SMEs and third sector organisations.
Another project the charity runs that will benefit from the website is the Creative Waste Exchange, which was initiated to prevent waste going to landfill and offers a recycling service to businesses and large organisations, who donate their old, unwanted office furniture and stationery, which is then sold on to the public and small businesses.
All funds generated are re-invested into the charity and used to develop more services and volunteering opportunities.
Aberdeen Forward currently employs nine staff and over 70 volunteers.
It is hoped that this new web presence will boost enquiries and sales, inadvertently making the charity more sustainable. Chief executive, Lynn Smith, who is delighted with the new site, commented: “We are all really excited with the site. It is a great showcase of what we do and it will help us to promote targeted areas that will generate income for us. It will also be a great information platform for people looking to become more environmentally friendly and do their bit for the planet. Every little helps and we are keen to promote this and encourage people to do their bit.”
