QUALITY Link, the Edinburgh-based hospitality sector arm of recruitment agency, Rise Group, is making a major contribution to improving standards within Scotland’s catering and leisure industries.
Says a spokesperson: “As the sector emerges from recession, Quality Link, which has been supplying staff to major venues throughout Scotland for 17 years, is providing candidates with training specifically designed to meet the requirements of the Licensing (Scotland) Act, which passed into law on September 1 this year.
“Unlike many other companies which are charging candidates for the training, Quality Link is providing its courses free of charge in the interests of clients and the hospitality industry as a whole.
“The new legislation is the biggest shake-up of Scotland’s drink laws for many years and all staff who are concerned in the sale or service of alcohol must understand how it affects both themselves and their companies.
“Quality Link, in line with its philosophy of adding value to its offering wherever possible, is putting not only bar staff directly involved in serving alcohol but all front of house staff through the training in the interests of clients.
“Quality Link is also helping to meet demand for training from clients’ in-house teams and has launched a service at modest cost which will allow clients to bring existing staff up to speed with the new laws.”
All its highly-qualified training consultants have completed the Scottish Certificate Training for Personal Licence Holders and are fully qualified to deliver the training which covers the syllabus.
The syllabus itself is comprehensive and covers areas as diverse as the legal basis of the Act, the functions of Licensing Standards Officers, special provisions for clubs, offences under the Act, sensible drinking limits and good practice in managing conflict situations.
