A BUDDING business tycoon has been selected as the Scots finalist for the prestigious O2 X Female Entrepreneur of the Year award.
DollyLeo Apothecary founder, Sadie Jean Sloss, beat off competition from leading Scottish businesses to land a place in the London final of the influential competition
Sadie will now face a grilling from high-profile judges, Simon Devonshire, head of Small Business Marketing at O2, Jennifer O’Connell, head of Small Business Acquisition at O2, founder of Space NK, Nicky Kinnaird, and representative from top glossy magazine, Grazia.
The results will then be announced at glitzy ceremony in London on September 29th.
DollyLeo Apothecary is one of Edinburgh’s leading independent retailers of niche beauty and skincare brands and luxury in-store treatments.
The up-market boutique recorded a healthy turnover since opening in July 2008 and had to increase staff levels from three to seven after clients rushed to get their hands on its exclusive beauty treats.
Sadie, who worked as a celebrity make-up artist in London before launching DollyLeo Apothecary in the city’s Stockbridge area, said: “I am delighted that DollyLeo Apothecary has progressed into the final of the O2 X Female Entrepreneur of the Year award.
“It is great to be recognised in a business capacity especially as the competition in the regional heats was so tough.
“I am thrilled we received the biggest number of votes to allow us to progress and now I hope I can do enough to impress the judges when they interview me.”
Simon Devonshire added: “This year’s winners will not only walk away with the O2 X Award prize of £5,000 and the acknowledgement that they have the been recognised by our expert judges but more importantly by other entrepreneurs across the UK.”
