AN arts adviser has been appointed to the team planning NHS Lothian’s new hospital for children and young people.
Grit & Pearl will work with patients, their families, staff and other people connected with the Royal Hospital for Sick Children to assess what art would be appropriate and then engage artists to deliver commissions. NHS Lothian supports art in healthcare settings.
Jackie Sansbury, director of strategic planning, NHS Lothian, said: “Providing art is an accepted and acknowledged part of providing a therapeutic atmosphere and this is even more important when planning a new hospital for children and young people.
