FORMER Rangers and Celtic players, Mark Hateley and George McCluskey, will be giving pupils from Mount Florida and St Brigids primary schools tips and support at Lesser Hampden at 1300 hours tomorrow, Wednesday, 17 June.
Both will be available for interviews and photographs.
Glasgow primary school kids will be transferring their football skills from the playground to the shadow of Hampden Park tomorrow.
A mini-tournament has been planned and organised by teenagers taking part in the BT and Football Foundation sponsored Communicating for Success (CfS) programme where they have been working with community teams from Rangers and Celtic to hone their business and event management skills.
Now their efforts have scored a goal with former Scotland and England internationalists, George McCluskey and Mark Hateley, who will be present to show off their skills with pupils from Mount Florida and St Brigids primary schools.
The tournament and its organisation has shown that the 120 pupils across the city who were taking part in the programme and had previously struggled with traditional forms of education can reach goals in life.
BT Scotland business development manager, James McClafferty, said: “Too many youngsters slip through the net and are seen as low achievers but we have demonstrated that needn’t be the case. Thanks to CfS, they have learned the business and marketing skills to make this tournament possible.”
Communicating for Success was launched in January this year in an initiative with Celtic and Rangers designed to tackle digital exclusion amongst Glasgow’s youths.
