HERE’S your chance to find out more about epilepsy. Just drop by The Town Hall, Castle Douglas on Wednesday 3 June from 2.30pm – 6.30pm when national charity, Epilepsy Scotland, is holding an information event.
Staff will tell you about the range of services on offer including a freephone helpline, website, information and leaflets. There will also be a general awareness talk on epilepsy from 5-6pm where any specific questions you have can be raised.
The organisation also provides training in understanding and managing epilepsy. It helps raise awareness of epilepsy by giving talks to schools and community groups. It also campaigns for better healthcare and is lobbying health boards, including NHS Dumfries and Galloway, to increase the number of specialist nurses.
Epilepsy link officer, Craig Blair, is encouraging people living in and around the Dumfries and Galloway area to come along.
He said: “In this area, there are few services to support people who have epilepsy. Having this common neurological condition can often be an isolating experience. Our services can make a difference for people and their families. We hope many will come to meet us and share their experiences. If you want to learn about epilepsy, we look forward to seeing you there!”
