YESTERDAY morning, just over a 1,000 pupils, teachers, and teaching assistants, took part in the largest-ever aerobics session to take place at their school.
Wake Up Watson’s took place at George Watson’s College on the grandstand pitch at Myreside, and all pupils from the nursery to primary 7 took part. The event was part of the school’s traditional spring term focus on fundraising for the George Watson’s Family Foundation.
The pupils were joined by the head of the Junior School, Mrs Linda Fleming; the Head Boy and Head Girl; teachers; classroom assistants; PE staff; and representatives of the Family Foundation.
Everyone was put through their paces by Mrs Kath Grandison, principal teacher in the Upper Primary, who runs similar – though smaller scale sessions – each Tuesday and Thursday morning prior to school to energise those pupils that take part, setting them up for the day.
Mrs Linda Fleming, head of the Junior School, said: “It was such an exciting event, on what was a lovely Spring morning. All the pupils seemed to enjoy themselves thoroughly and it was expecially good to be able to include the Nursery children too. We hope that all the efforts put into organising the event and participating will result in a significant donation to our Family Foundation.”
