US-based group, Better World Books, which sells second-hand books online in support of literacy initiatives, has chosen Scotland for its first overseas base.
The company has established a warehousing and office complex at Queensferry Road, Dunfermline for the collection, storage and sale of the books it collects from libraries, charity shops and university book drives. Up to 70 people will be employed.
Better World Books collects unwanted books and sells them on multiple online marketplaces. Its commitment to social responsibility is reflected in its policy of allocating a proportion of its revenues to its chosen charity partners, all of whom work in the field of literacy and education.
