NOW in its seventh year, the Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival will have you rolling in the aisles.
Major comedy names such as Jimmy Carr, Rob Brydon, Ross Noble and Paul Merton head a veritable army of comics, all ready to tickle the ribs of Scotland’s ‘cultural capital’.
Already a significant part of Glasgow’s thriving entertainment scene, the MGICF is simply growing and growing, attracting folk from all over the world. Between the 12th-29th March 2009, 101,000 tickets will be available for 380 shows spread across 50+ venues over 18 days.
The Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival is also proud to be part of 2009’s Homecoming Scotland’s celebrations.
Homegrown heroes, like Jerry Sadowitz and Arnold Brown, join some of the best stand-up Scotland has to offer in the shape Des McLean, Kevin Bridges and Parrot. Also look out for a raft of American comedians with Scottish roots as they head back to the cradle of their families.
All the bases are covered, from big names to newcomers, stand up and sketch shows, musical, character and improvised comedy. There’ll be kids shows, workshops for those who want a go themselves, coach and walking tours with the emphasis on laughter. Everybody needs a laugh, come and have one in Glasgow.
Full programme will be launched on Wednesday 14 January at the City Chambers, George Square, Glasgow. In the meantime register at www.glasgowcomedyfestival.com for updates and show on sale info.
Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival is supported by Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, Homecoming Scotland, EventScotland and our principal sponsors Magners Irish Cider.
