WE’VE heard the politicians talk about the Culture Bill, now it is a chance for the people to have their say.
With the Scottish Executive offering its draft Culture Bill for consultation, there has never been a better time for people to come together and discuss the future of the arts. ‘Crafting The Arts’ is the first national conference held by Voluntary Arts Scotland, and promises to be a vibrant weekend of discussion.
Held in Edinburgh on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd February, ‘Crafting The Arts’ will open with a Scottish Executive speaker.
Exploring diverse subjects such as child protection, cultural entitlements, education and mental health, the conference will spark debate and allow people to learn from each other’s experiences. And, to show that participation is at the heart of Scotland’s cultural scene, conference delegates will kick up their heels at a ceilidh dance and dinner.
Voluntary Arts Scotland is already a valuable resource for the estimated 2 million people across Scotland who take part in arts and crafts activities. ‘Crafting The Arts’ will take that service a stage further, by offering an exciting forum for debate.

‘Crafting The Arts’, Voluntary Arts Scotland’s first national conference, will take place in the new Scottish Storytelling Centre on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 February 2007.
Places should be booked by 30th January 2007. Thanks to the Scottish Arts Council, conference fees have been kept affordably low.
