AT first glance, The Open Championship, the Edinburgh International Festival, UCI World Mountain Bike Championships, Highland Year of Culture, Edinburgh’s International Film Festival and Glasgow’s bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games may have little in common.
Yet on Tuesday (6th March) at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall, over half-a-dozen key decision makers behind some of the world’s most iconic cultural and sporting festivals will attend the inaugural National Events Conference and share with almost 300 delegates the secrets behind staging such successful events, their financial implications and the economic (and cultural) benefits to be gained by attracting major events to Scotland.
