PURPLE Internet Marketing, an Internet marketing training company based in Edinburgh, today challenged web design companies to make their websites more marketing friendly.
In a statement today, managing director, David Bain, questioned why professional web design often fails to improve search engine ranking.
Bain says: “Understandably, marketing managers and business owners are swayed by the look of a website design rather than the coding behind the design. This is a mistake. What’s the point in having a well designed website that’s not going to be seen by anyone?
“All it takes is a few pieces of coding inserted into each web page and a bit of thought about phraseology. But if website design companies aren’t able to explain to their clients how to integrate the site as part of an overall marketing strategy then I’d question their ability to offer a website design service.
“The strategy of a business should impact heavily on the website design and functionality. In an ideal scenario, companies would decide on their Internet marketing strategy before embarking on a website design project.
“That’s one of the reasons why we started our Internet marketing seminars. They’re aimed largely at marketing managers and provide a comprehensive overview of many of the internet marketing options available to businesses.”
