HAVING topped the medal table at the ITU Duathlon World Championships in Gyor, Hungary in April; Britain’s top multisport competitors will be looking to add to their medal haul at the European Championships being held in Edinburgh next weekend, 16th June.
The technical and challenging course around Holyrood Park will see the athletes complete a three discipline 10km run, 40km bike, 5km run.
The initial two-lap run will take the athletes on a route to Duddingston Village, before they are faced with a gruelling six lap hilly bike route over Arthur’s Seat and past the Scottish Parliament building, Dynamic Earth and Holyrood Palace.
Finishing off with another out and back run to Duddingston, the duathletes will have to dig deep for the final 5km showdown before they can finish at the Commonwealth Pool.
Paul Bush, acting chief operating officer of EventScotland, commented:
“We are pleased to be helping stage the European Duathlon Championships in Edinburgh for the first time – a city which is becoming synonymous with world-class outdoor athletic events.”
