Media Release: Yog display to promote good health in Scotland at Mela

VISITORS to this year’s Glasgow Mela multicultural family festival at Kelvingrove Park on Sunday June 17th will get a chance to participate in a mass yog display when the Patanjali Yog Peeth Trust promote good health through the ancient Indian science of yog in Scotland ahead of Scotland’s largest ever yog health workshop to be held from 19-24th July at the city’s SECC with the world’s leading yog master, Swami Ramdev Ji.

The Scottish Campaign’s ambitious mandate centres on the promotion of yog as a preventative healthcare measure to aid in the control of ailments, unify communities and transform the country into one of the healthiest nations in the world.

Involving a series systematic breathing techniques (pranayam) combined with yog asana postures, it can be practiced by people of all ages or abilities.

With an aim of bridging generational, social and cultural gaps and heading Scotland’s campaign for better health, member of the PYP (UK) Trust Sunita Poddar, said: “Our display at the Mela, together with our six day event at the SECC will support Scotland’s drive to become a healthy nation and help unify communities across the country. These events will help Scots improve their mental, physical and emotional well being.”

The Patanjali Yog Peeth Trust yog display at Glasgow Mela will take place from 1pm to 1.30pm at Kelvingrove Park on the main stage. Based on the traditions of the Indian sub-continent, the Glasgow Mela was established in 1990, during the year of culture, and has grown from being an indoor event to an outdoor extravaganza with over 25,000 people attending.
