WEST Lothian men who suffer from prostate cancer are to benefit from a significant
expansion in services at their local St John’s Hospital.
Currently, one third of men attending Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital (WGH) for
investigations for prostate cancer are from West Lothian – and with almost half of
them diagnosed with the condition, the provision of local services will provide a
timely boost to their support and treatment.
The new facilities are taking the form of both a specialist clinic and a prostate
cancer support group at St John’s, with new equipment currently being purchased for
the clinic to treat attendees with prostate biopsies, diagnosis and management.
