Media Release: WildDay tycoon to speak in Elgin

BUSINESS people in the Moray area are being given an exciting opportunity to learn the secrets of success from a man who is regarded as one of Scotland’s leading business speakers.

Former rock star-turned-business tycoon, Mick Jackson, has agreed to speak at a forthcoming open meeting of the Moray Small Business Club (MSBC) which is supported by HIE Moray.

Jackson (37), who has forged an international reputation as an inspirational speaker, will address his audience on ‘How to Use your Brains before your Budget’.

The event, on the evening of Thursday, September 13 in the Eight Acres Hotel at Elgin, is not confined to small business club members, but has been thrown open to a wider audience. However, places have been limited to 200 and with 60 already taken, business people interested in attending are urged to book as soon as possible.

MSBC provides help and support to entrepreneurs thinking of starting up a business in Moray.

Keira Simpson, from HIE Moray, said: “A presentation from a dynamic forward thinker such as Mick Jackson will be really stimulating for Moray’s business community. The network is really pleased to be supporting this event which should be both an entertaining and inspirational guide to the modern entrepreneurial landscape.”

Brought up in Lanarkshire, Jackson pursued his dream of becoming a rock star after he graduated with a degree in management and economics at the University of Strathclyde. He formed a band which achieved some chart success.

But, keen to get into business, he found work when he was 28 with Recruitment Scotland, a recruitment website. He and his business partner, Michael Green, later received help from them to launch in 2000, WildDay.com, which has since grown into one of the largest online outdoor equipment stores in Europe.
