THE George Watson’s College Nursery opened its doors in September 1982 – so this month marks its 25th birthday.
To celebrate, all the School’s current pupils who started in the nursery (that is 707 pupils!), along with members of staff who had worked there over the years, were invited to a birthday celebration on Monday.
Cake, balloons, decorations, photos and a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday were the order of the day.
Mr Gareth Edwards, Principal, said: “I was delighted to welcome back some of the nursery staff who worked here over the years. The logistics of arranging a party for 700 plus pupils from the ages of three to 18 is no mean feat and it is tribute to the ‘can-do’ attitude at Watson’s, that we can both contemplate and arrange such events.”
It is hoped that the money raised through the sale of photos taken in the day will result in a sizable donation to the George Watson’s Family Foundation, to enable more people to join the Watson’s family.
This ‘silver anniversary’ falls in the year where we have expanded our Nursery Plus provision to ensure that our nursery provides our families, with the service that they require. Like any part of history – things must evolve.
