RADIOHEAD’S new album, ‘In Rainbows’, which was released on CD/vinyl on New Year’s
Eve (31 Dec 2007), is on course to be the first No.1 album of the new year, HMV
reports.
The album controversially first came out as a ‘pay what you like’ download in
October 2007 – with mixed results for the band: it generated massive press
coverage worldwide, but it was later revealed that relatively few fans paid much
for the download, beyond its nominal fee.
The band have now successfully released the album in physical form, showing that
demand for CDs and vinyl remains robust.
