MORE than 20 businesses are in the running for Outer Hebrides service excellence awards ceremony after judges announced the final shortlist today (Tuesday March 18).
The winners will be announced at the Who Cares Wins awards ceremony on Wednesday March 26 at the Dark Island Hotel, Benbecula.
The awards mark the excellence and professionalism across the service sector, rewarding businesses for their contribution to the area’s reputation as a first class visitor destination.
The successful businesses will receive their awards during the ceremony in Benbecula, followed by a gala dinner.
James Martin, general manager, Inverness Leisure, will deliver a presentation on Hospitality Assured (HA) and will acknowledging the HA accredited businesses at the ceremony.
Organised and supported by HIE Innse Gall, VisitScotland and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, the award categories are: Responsible Business; Taste of the Hebrides; Best Marketing Initiative; Best Employer and Best Overall Customer Experience.
Lorna Macaulay, head of developing skills and customer service at HIE Innse Gall, said: “It is very encouraging to see such a high calibre of businesses being recognised under each award category. These awards celebrate the positive and diverse range of excellence in the service industry and we are so pleased that HIE Innse Gall is again able to support the awards. Angus Macmillan, area director for VisitScotland Outer Hebrides, also welcomed the businesses’ success. He said: “The awards ceremony is a real celebration of everything the Outer Hebrides has to offer, both to the visitor and the resident alike. The Who Cares Wins programme continues to recognise excellence across many sectors of the local economy helping to maintain high standards throughout.”
The businesses short listed include Broad Bay House, Isle of Lewis which is the only five-star serviced accommodation provider in the Outer Hebrides, just opened for business last year. Also, Isles Hotel Group have undertaken a massive green project over the last year, replacing the entire heating systems.
