WHEN designer, Paul Fennon, couldn’t find any good quality furniture of the right size for his home, he decided to take the matter into his own hands – by forming Wood Made Good, a new firm set up to provide bespoke, but affordable designer furniture.
And today (04.04.08) Paul opens a new furniture showroom in Glasgow to display the range of furniture Wood Made Good can make to customers’ individual specifications so that no-one need ever encounter the same difficulty he experienced when trying to furnish his own home.
“With traditional cabinet making skills in Scotland having all but disappeared over recent years, I found it extremely difficult to buy good quality furniture that was the right size for my home, which happens to have traditional high ceilings and big rooms,” said Mr Fennon.
“Like me, many homeowners have been left with the stark choice between buying imported furniture from the Far East, that takes months to arrive and all looks the same, or more convenient flat pack furniture that is disproportionate to the room and which, after a few years of family life, ends up in a skip. At the other end of the scale, bespoke furniture was breathtakingly expensive.
“Wood Made Good aims to offer customers a welcome alternative by offering designer furniture that’s built to last a lifetime – the way furniture used to be made – at an affordable price.”
The new company explodes the myth that individually-made items of furniture need cost an arm and a leg. Instead, Wood Made Good furniture marries traditional cabinet-making skills with contemporary designs offering top quality at an affordable price.
And rather than costing the earth, Wood Made Good is, if anything, helping save the earth.
