GLASGOW care home operator, Lambhill Court Ltd, has grown its business by 35 per cent with its acquisition of the 85-bed Knightswood Nursing Home in the west of the city.
The move is in line with Lambhill’s plans for strategic expansion, and sees all 90 staff at Knightswood being retained under the new ownership.
The company’s three existing Glasgow homes are Lambhill Court, Florence House and Sherbrooke Lodge.
Key to the future of the home at 2032 Great Western Road will be its assimilation within the wider care model developed over the last 25 years by Lambhill’s founders, Mr & Mrs Poddar, from the company’s headquarters at Kinning Park on Glasgow’s south side.
Staff and residents at Knightswood are currently being asked to supply ideas for a completely new name for the home, as under its new, wider remit, facilities will no longer be restricted purely to nursing.
There’s an ideal chance for those interested in how the improved and expanded facility will operate to find out more at a special open day to be staged there on Thursday, 4 July from 12.30 – 3pm.
Meanwhile, Lambhill Court Ltd is examining options for further acquisitions in the future and has one in the pipeline, Acre House, which has approximately 100 independent living apartments in a care environment.
Operations director, Arti Poddar, said: “We’re at the stage where we have spent several years developing what we consider to be advanced standards of care in which the main aim is to give residents as much independence as possible, along with a high-quality and stimulating environment.
“We are ready to use the organisation and procedures we have built up to bring this service to areas where we do not currently operate, and of course this acquisition in Knightswood is an ideal site in the west of the city – well catered for by public transport.”
She said the deal, while straightforward, had been finalised in careful stages in order to minimise disruption to staff and residents at Knightswood – who have been kept fully briefed on how the home is set to evolve in the months ahead.
The company has invested heavily in recent years in its existing assets, and will recreate these high quality of standards at Knightswood.
Arti Poddar said: “This is a very positive move for all concerned, allowing us to offer enhanced facilities at an important west Glasgow care home while using the staff resources and organisation we have developed to full effect.”
Company chair and founder Sam Poddar, said: “We strive to provide luxury living in superior surroundings, and believe in high quality care provided by dedicated and highly-skilled staff.
“We are equally committed to enabling people to grow older with dignity, independence and security, and we feel our progressive approach to care homes allows residents to feel they are truly in the comforts of home.”
