RENFREWSHIRE Arts & Museums welcomes a retrospective of celebrated Scottish artist.
A vibrant new art exhibition will open at Paisley Museum in September, entitled Joie de Vivre! – The Art of Alexander Goudie.
The first major retrospective exhibition of the Paisley-born artist will display his incredible breadth of styles and examine the life, vigour and colour of his work. One of the largest exhibitions Paisley Museum has hosted, this collection of over 100 works will run from Friday 19 September to Saturday 13 December 2008.
Alexander Goudie (1933-2004) was an ex-student and tutor of the Glasgow School of Art. As a portraitist his sitters included Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Lord Chancellor Lord Mackay of Clashfern, Billy Connolly and a host of other figures drawn from the world of politics, commerce and entertainment.
Although often noted for his portraiture, the exhibition at Paisley Museum will explore his talent through a vastly contrasting range of work including sculpture, ceramics and set design.
