ISLAY’S Bruichladdich Distillery has been included in the Scottish finals of Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award for 2011
“We are delighted to have been considered in this award in our tenth anniversary year,” said managing director, Mark Reynier.
“It recognises the great effort, risk and achievement from all the team in resurrecting this wonderful Hebridean distillery from the scrapheap of history.”
Says a spokesperson: “Bruichladdich distillery was reopened in May 2001, having been shut down in 1994 as ‘surplus to requirements’. The company, based and managed from islay, now sells 40,00 case of Islay single malt around the world and has just posted pre-tax profits of £900,000 for year ending 2010.”
The winner of the competition will be announced at Gleneagles on 23rd June.
The awards are sponsored by Credi Suisse, and endorsed by the CBI, Department of Business, Innovation & Skills, London Stock Exchange, Prince’s Trust and Institute of Directors.
