GRADUATES seeking to celebrate their graduation in style need look no further than Metropolitan cocktail bar and restaurant in Merchant Square, in the heart of Glasgow’s historic Merchant City, which has just introduced its special graduation menu
Reflecting its specialism in locally-sourced Scottish a la carte at affordable prices, Metropolitan’s three course graduation menu, including a glass of bubbly, costs only £18.95 per person for lunch or £22.95 per person for dinner.
The menu offers starters of: soup of the day served with crusty bread; chicken liver and brandy parfait with Arran oatcakes, seasonal leaves and a raisin and shallot chutney; grilled smoked salmon with fennel and caper salad and baby mozzarella salad with pine nuts, roast red pepper and rocket pesto
The mains include: pan-fried mackerel with a lemon and coriander crust, sautéed new potatoes, mange tout and a Pernod sauce; breast of chicken with smoked bacon Boulanger potatoes, green beans and a marsala sauce; rib eye steak with plum tomatoes, grilled mushroom, Maris Piper chips and rocket or sweet potato, spinach and feta cheese strudel with a light salad and ratatouille salsa.
Meanwhile, the sweets are: chocolate and orange tart with raspberry sorbet; sticky toffee pudding with rum and raisin ice cream; vanilla panna cotta and a selection of dairy ice creams.
Located on Candleriggs at the heart of the Merchant City, Glasgow’s cultural, fashion and food quarter, Merchant Square offers an eclectic selection of restaurants and cafes.
Once part of the old Glasgow Fruit Market, Merchant Square is imbued with the history of the area’s dominating Victorian architecture, although today this sense of history blends seamlessly with the distinctly cosmopolitan ambiance that pervades the surrounding cobbled streets that bring the outside in.
