ON 9 February 2011, Stevenson College Edinburgh hosted the third round of the Scottish Colleges League, with teams travelling down from Aberdeen and Dundee as well as local college Telford taking part.
This Wednesday (2 March), they must now travel to a round of games hosted at Telford College, to try to secure a place in the Scottish Colleges Sport National Finals at Aberdeen Sports Village on Tuesday 8 March.
The second game of the day back in February was between Stevenson and Aberdeen.
The game got off to a nervy start with a lot of errors from both teams, however Stevenson pulled away by the middle of the second quarter and, despite a brave fight back from Aberdeen, Stevenson settled their nerves and by the third quarter, Stevenson was comfortably in the lead and went on to win the game 47-19.
Coach of Stevenson’s Student Basketball Team, SCE student, Claire Gibb, said: “We were really pleased to have won at home and are really looking forward to playing in the next heat on Wednesday.
“If we can perform like we did in the last game, there is no reason that we can’t make to the finals in Aberdeen.”
