GLASGOW Social Care Providers Forum has landed Dr Kevin Doughty, one of the country’s leading experts on Telecare, as the keynote speaker at an interactive seminar at the Raddison Hotel in Glasgow on January 20.
Dr Doughty is depute director of the Centre for Usable Home Technology at the University of York. The seminar is entitled, Balancing Care, People and Technology in 2011.
Charlie Barker, director of GSCPF, which is soon to become the Social Care Ideas Factory said: “The roll-out of personalised budgets in Glasgow will involve challenges and opportunities for everyone involved in Telecare.
“We have designed the day to give delegates the opportunity to hear from leading experts like Dr Doughty and to have hands on experience of telecare technology from leading suppliers.”

Notes for editors:
GSCPF is an innovative network of social care provider organisations delivering services across Glasgow.
The original seed for the Forum was sown in 2001 by a group of Providers hoping to build a strong provider community, where common issues could be raised, debated and represented.
In 2006, the Forum launched with the support of Glasgow City Council Social Work Services funding and the employment of staff.
